The Texas Ambassadors – RGV Class of 2013

Pharr Explosion Tournament

Pharr Explosion Tournament

recently participated in The Pharr Explosion Tournament and finished 3rd with a 3-1 record. The Ambassador group fought hard on Saturday to beat a scrappy Harlingen squad and a tenacious Reynosa Jags team. Both groups were tough, but the Ambassadors were able to seal the victories down the stretch. With a top seed in our pool, we began Sunday at 11 am against the La Hoya Wolf Pack.

Congratulations to the Orange & Silver Team for their participation in the

1st Annual South Texas Fear Summer Slam 2009 Tournament

Both teams did an outstanding job with each finishing 1-1 on Saturday coming in 2nd in their pool.

Sunday was bracket play as the Orange team battled a tough Stallions Team from the Mcallen area. The Ambassadors never let up, continuing to press and play defense. The first half started a little slow, but it gained alot of momentum coming into the second half. As the clock wined down, the Orange Ambassadors continued to fight until the buzzer. Unfortunately time ran out and they could not pull a win. The Orange Ambassadors finish 1-2, a great start for their first tournament.

Sunday also brought tough competition for the Silver Ambassadors as they begin bracket play versus the Welsaco Katz. The team brought defensive from the start and never let up. Despite some turnovers during transition, the boys came up with a huge vicory and continued on. Next game was versus The Stallions. Fortunately for the Silver Ambassadors, the Orange team had already worn them down with their relentless defense. The Silver team was able to pull another victory against a tenacious and hard-working team. This win allowed the Silver team to advance to the Championship game against Pharr Explosion. Both groups had worked very hard to get to this game so we knew it would be a tough match. The Silver team started off with a slight lead, but allowed the Explosion to get back in the game after, yet again, additional turnovers during transition. After slowing the game, we began to control the tempo, but allowed two 3-pointers to bring the game to a point lead by the Explosion. We answered back with a quick two and now the score was 35-34. With less than a minute remaining, we were fouled and finally were sent to line. Thanks to continued drills on free-throws (you know you love those drills :) we sunk in the final two free-throws to seal the deal. Final score 37-34. Congratulations to the Silver Ambassadors for winning their first tournament of the season with a 4-1 finish.
